Yes, they’re closed. No, we didn’t close them.

“To help protect resident health and minimize potential for gatherings, the Regional forests are closed to visitors until further notice.”

Halton Region

We heard there was some non-compliance this weekend (April 4th) and the forest parking lots are being fenced off ASAP. A number of regular AF folks who respected the closure were NOT happy about having to drive by while others broke the closure.

Keep in mind, if you’re angry about witnessing people break the new rules please don’t fill our inbox. We can’t do the broken-telephone thing with Halton Police nor can we change the Emergency Act and re-open the forest.

“For the duration of the pandemic if a member of the public wishes to report an incident of non-compliance with the emergency orders, they may contact the Halton Regional Police Service COVID-19 Hotline: 905-825-4722

It is critical that our residents use 911 for emergencies only”

Halton Regional Chair

We’re not sure how we feel about all this, hopefully it doesn’t go on too long.

Stay safe, stay strong and stay sane!

P.S. We’ve heard $880 is the starting fine for not following the Emergency Measures Act – Stay outta trouble!

We have received notice that effective Saturday April 4th the Halton Region forest tracts which contain our trails are CLOSED. This is part of an emergency measure to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Fines for violating this closure may be issued without warning. If you’re fined under the Emergency Measures Act the fine could easily be into the thousands of dollars…

Please stay home, practice physical distancing and proper hand hygiene.

We will update you when the trails re-open.
